What Toddler Day Out Is All About!
To provide an opportunity for parents and caregivers of the community with under fives and to raise awareness of the importance of the early years, and link to support available to them and their children.
To fundraise, administer, collaborate, promote and conduct the event with the ECE sector, parenting and other health and social services, as well as providing accountability reports to funders and sectors.
"It Takes a Village to Raise a Child"
What a day we had for Toddler Day Out 2015, now in our 12th year. We are delighted to report that we estimate even with the big threat and some rain, we had realistically close to 9,000-10,000 in attendance. There were lots of smiles, fun and laughter. Lots of busy young minds learning with puzzles, face painting dolls, collage, stories, playing with gloop, weaving, visiting the pink tent, building with natural materials and play dough. Parents talked with the services who support them, we saw lots of interaction on part of the agencies with their children and parents. Even some parents were event treated to the great massages and health advice from our awesome team.
We also had children bouncing and sliding, dancing and singing, and generally having a great time. Many smiles were the order of the day! It was also great to see the parents and caregivers interacting with their children in new and creative ways. We also really appreciate your participation and interaction with not only the children and parents, but also the various agencies as we all work together to make a difference.
Wonderful words from Kaumātua Papa Fred Holloway, Lady Susan Satyanand; VFW Patron, Penny Hulse; Auckland Deputy Mayor, Carmel Sepuloni; Member of Parliament for Kelston, Vanessa Neeson of Massey-Henderson Local Board and Elaine Dyer Violence Free Waitakere.
We had a great collaborative team this year who worked so hard to make this happen. Planning, coordination, organisation, dedication and lots of multi-tasking. From our TDO Project Mgr Robyn, Event Mgr Coral, Village Area Manager Kay, Admin Support Tamara, Fundraising Mgr Lyn, our Emcee Gaylene, Wonderful Area Organisers and Stall Holders and of course we can’t go without saying our very own CEO Elaine Dyer who guides and mentors us all along the way. Everyone worked positively and effectively. We would also like to mention, our amazing volunteer teens from Massey and Henderson High, Liston and Kelston Girls College, plus a few adults from Volunteer Auckland, who worked so hard on the day and we appreciated them so very much. Speaks volumes of a great West Auckland Teens!!
Blessings and see you again next year!
